RANGELEY — The Federal Aviation Administration has approved $350,000 for the municipal airport, according to U.S. Rep. Mike Michaud, D-Maine.

The money will be used to construct a building to house snow removal equipment at the Stephen A. Bean Municipal Airport. The intent is to protect the equipment from adverse weather conditions.

The Rangeley airport was one of two airports to receive money for improvements.

The FAA also approved a total of $807,594 for the Northern Maine Regional Airport at Presque Isle. Of that amount, $637,599 is to acquire a new aircraft rescue and firefighting vehicle to assist the airport in meeting safety requirements.

And $170,000 of it will be used to get snow-removal equipment, a truck and plow attachment, to the keep the airport serviceable during snow periods and aid in the efficiency and safety of operations.
