SUMNER — Residents will vote at 7 p.m. Monday, June 6, at the Town Office on a proposal  to put a 180-day moratorium on industrial wind power until an ordinance can be developed.

The Planning Board proposal would last for 180 days to give the town time to develop a wind-power ordinance. This time could be extended by selectmen who will appoint a Wind Energy Ordinance Committee.

At this time, the town has no industrial-wind-energy-facility ordinance.

According to the Planning Board, an ordinance would allow the town to set terms for industrial wind energy, rather than outside developers.

The Planning Board and the selectmen voted unanimously to bring this issue before the voters.
