GEORGETOWN — Ocean-front Reid State Park will host “Reidfest 2011,” an afternoon and evening concert, featuring area bands and performers, on Saturday, June 11.
“This should be a great time for anyone who likes to mix sun, sea and music,” said Maine Bureau of Parks and Lands Director Will Harris.
Here is the lineup:
At 2 p.m.: Yaicha of Whitefield, lead singer of Mumbasue, will perform children’s music on the acoustic guitar. She also performs experimental and folk music.
At 3 p.m.: Paddy Mills, a singer-songwriter from Rockland, will take the stage. He is known for his quirky storytelling and a music style he calls “rural contemporary groove folk.”
At 4:30 p.m.: Jimmy Midnight and the Yurtbirds, frequent performers at The Lion’s Pride in Brunswick, will play. The musicians are known for their mix of rockabilly, country, new age, punkadelic and blues with a touch of reggae. Featured will be guitarist Scott Woodruff.
At 6 p.m.: Mumbasue, with band members from Farmington, Whitefield and Wiscasset, will perform a blend of rock, funk, folk, reggae, hip-hop and rhythm and blues.
Also at the music fest, Friends of Maine State Parks and the Georgetown Fire Department will have display tables. The Maine Audubon Society will have a piping plover station, featuring information on the endangered shore birds that inhabit the Reid beach.
Park gates will remain open until after 9 p.m. to accommodate festivalgoers. Performances will be in the group shelter area. The music fest is free with park admission. Visitors are reminded that no alcohol is permitted. A concession will offer light food. Visitors should also bring blankets, lawn chairs, bug spray and sun screen.
