AUBURN — Police have identified the construction worker who died Friday when he fell while working on masonry at the former Webster School.
The victim is John Ledue, 51, of Portland, police said. “The matter remains under investigation, and no further information is available at this time,” Deputy Chief Jason Moen of the Auburn police said Saturday.
Ledue fell about 10 feet at 2 p.m. Friday, hitting his head during the fall. Witnesses said when he fell, he was jackhammering to remove bricks.
Ledue was employed by Hascall & Hall of Portland. The former Webster School on Hampshire Street is being converted into residential housing by the Auburn Housing Authority.
