LEWISTON — Ernest “Ti Nes” Lavoie Jr., 91, of Lewiston, passed away on Friday, June 3, at his home, where he had been residing since 1951.

He was born in Samodeste, P.Q., Canada, March 14, 1920. He was the 10th child of 15 of Ernest and Claudia (Martin) Lavoie.

“Ernie” married Carmen Fournier, the love of his life on April 27, 1946, and they resided in Lewiston and had two children.

He worked as a hand sewer, carpenter, pipe fitter and in construction for Laliberte and Sons. Carmen, his wife of 55 years died in 2001, and he continued to keep active and busy. He was involved in the Knights of Columbus for many years, he taught CCD, served as a eucharistic minister, was a member of the Holy Cross prayer meeting and the choir for 40 years.

He was quite a cook and a gardener and had a joke and a smile for everyone. He had his routine, everything was like clockwork and he was disciplined, especially when it came to his prayer life. He attended daily Masses and was a daily communicant.

He was a World War II veteran, patriotic and courageous.

Survivors include one sister, Dolores Labonte “Dolly” Fredericks of Pennsylvania; his son, John Lavoie of Lewiston; his daughter, Jolene Juneau and husband, Richard, of Auburn; grandchildren, Patrick and Chris Connors and Nikki Lavoie; and a great-grandchild, Sophie Lavoie Boone.

He was predeceased by nine sisters; and four brothers.
