NEW GLOUCESTER — Reconstruction of the Morse Road began Monday and selectmen noted at their meeting Monday night that it will be closed from June 20 to Aug. 29.

Shaw Brothers Construction of Gorham is doing the $689,500 job, which cover a three-quarter-mile section.

Project costs will be paid from Pineland’s Tax Increment Financing funds.

The Morse Road goes from Route 100 to Route 231 at Pineland Farm.

In other business, selectmen will study five bids for a dump truck for the highway department. They ranged from $99,874 to $105,154 and include trade-in offers.

Selectmen accepted a bid of $250 per month for Town Hall Streams of York to stream and video on-demand services for the town’s community access television channel. Committee member Patti Mikkelsen said the service allows anyone online to view live meetings and videos on-demand on laptop, desktop and tablet computers.

All meetings and programs on the town’s cable channel 3 will be automatic to view once recorded.

Town Manager Sumner Field III told the board he is studying recycling options and will make a recommendation June 20.

A contract with Waste Management, which hauls the town’s recycled materials to Lewiston, ends on June 30 and will not be renewed.

The town favors multi-sort recycling, not single stream, and faces loss of revenues generated from the current 88 hauls annually to Lewiston.
