BUCKFIELD — The Board of Selectmen appointed longtime volunteer Timothy Brooks as the new fire chief to replace Steve Campbell, who recently resigned.

Town Manager Glen Holmes said Brooks has been a faithful volunteer over the years and has built cabinets at the fire station to house firefighters’ clothing among other things.

Brooks will take over June 30.

The board also accepted the resignation of Norman Richardson from the Planning Board. Holmes made a plea for people to serve on the Planning Board.

Holmes said they also need a Budget Committee member.

Selectmen recessed their 6:30 p.m. meeting to attend the Regional School Unit 10 budget hearing in the same building. They reconvened after the budget hearing which was attended by some 25 people, including school and town officials.
