WILTON — Police are seeking information from the community on a string of weekend burglaries at six area businesses, police Chief Page Reynolds said Tuesday.

The thefts and attempted break-ins occurred Friday night. Police believe the incidents are connected and they are looking at one or two possible suspects, he said. Some items have been recovered.

Reports of burglaries at Sassy Scissors, TJ’s Corner Store, Wilton Hardware and Rustic Pizza were reported to police Saturday. An attempted burglary was reported at Bradley’s Pizza and money was reported missing from Calzolaio Pasta Co., he said.

Early Saturday morning, employees at Sassy Scissors on Main Street found a back door to the beauty shop had been forced open. They are checking to see what, if anything, is missing, according to the police report, Administrative Assistant Lucille Porter said.

A pedestrian walking on Main Street on Saturday afternoon noticed the window in the door at Wilton Hardware was broken and reported it to police. A cash register and some other items were taken from the store, Reynolds said.

A new shop on Route 2, Rustic Pizza, was broken into but apparently nothing was taken, Reynolds said.

TJ’s Corner Store was broken into again over the weekend, he said. This was the third break-in at the Main Street convenience store within the last few months.

The owner of Bradley’s Pizza discovered late Saturday afternoon that his back door had been hit by a rock in an attempt to get into the shop sometime between 8:45 p.m. Friday and Saturday morning. Nothing was missing and apparently there was no illegal entry, according to the police report.
