When I was 5 years old, I discovered a magical place in my town — a place where I could explore the world and be transported anywhere within seconds; a place with endless stories, adventures, pictures and resources: the Rumford Library.
Through the years, the library has grown to mean even more to me and I know that many members of the community feel the same.
Currently, there are two recommendations for library funding for the 2011-12 fiscal year. The Finance Committee’s recommendation of $230,000 would allow current services to be maintained. Those services have already been drastically reduced from those provided three years ago.
The selectmen’s recommendation, $30,000 less than the Finance Committee’s, would reduce services even further.
I hope residents will join me in support of the Finance Committee’s recommendation on June 14.
Jennifer Cohen, Rumford.
