AUBURN — A Lewiston man has been charged with driving while intoxicated after his car slammed into a tractor-trailer late Monday night on Washington Street.

Scott Lachance, 44, was issued a summons by police who investigated the collision that left Lachance briefly trapped inside his four-door.

Police said Lachance was driving north in the southbound lane between the Irving gas station and the Turnpike interchange when his car struck the front of the rig.

The truck was driven by 55-year-old Jeffrey Clark, of Wells, Vt., who was not injured in the wreck.

Lachance was treated for minor injuries suffered in the crash. He has been ordered to appear in court to answer the charge of driving while intoxicated.
