RUMFORD — Ready for a challenge designed to promote your overall physical and mental fitness?

The River Valley Healthy Communities Coalition invites all River Valley community members to join the Summer Into Fall — 100 Miles in 100 Days Challenge.

“The goal of the 100 miles in 100 days is to motivate people to become and stay active as a means of beginning a healthier lifestyle,” Sandra Witas of the coalition said.

The challenge begins June 19 and goes to Sept. 26.

“All one needs to do to participate in the challenge is keep track of the miles and days you walk in a logbook that we provide,” Witas said. “It is a self-paced program. One can do the program alone or  grab a friend or friends to join in on the walks.”

“Each walker who returns the log sheet with a minimum of 100 miles will be entered into a drawing for a certificate for a new pair of running shoes from Carlisle’s of Rumford,” Witas said.

The challenge is celebrating its third year. Participants of the 100 miles in 100 days have logged more than 19,000 miles since its inception.
