It seems to me, that if everyone getting a government check were to be cut by one dollar a month, with that dollar being applied to the national deficit, we could advance. The trouble with that idea is that there is not one person who would trust the government to do any such thing.

Many people receiving Social Security rarely have a dollar left over, and it would be sick to see the government wasting the sacrifice.

I also wonder if most young working folks know that Social Security/Medicare/Part D recipients do not get those benefits for free? Senior citizens contributed to Social Security while they worked and still have to pay for Medicare and Part D. I pay $125 a month for those two items, plus nearly $200 more for supplemental insurance.

Young people must be prepared and take good care of their health. It will save them some money in their golden years. The government wants the people to pay for all of that, but they must not use the benefits.

The day may be coming when the U.S. becomes like many of the Middle East countries in offering no health care for the elderly.
