“I got to play on the edge, and I guess that I was a little over the edge.” That was the quote from Aaron Rome of the Vancouver Canucks that was printed in the Sun Journal on June 13.

Rome said the NHL suspension criteria were “arbitrary,” and that he didn’t understand why the league ended his chance to skate after a hit that he believed was “barely illegal.” (His coach agreed that it was a late hit.)

If one looks at the film clips, Rome left the ice to make the hit — that is illegal. He spoke of the play being “barely illegal.” Is that like being “just a little bit pregnant?”
