BRUNSWICK — Miss Lewiston-Auburn, Courtney Vallee, 19 of Lewiston, will represent that area in the 75th anniversary Miss Maine Scholarship Pageant to be held at the Crooker Theater at Brunswick High School on June 17 and 18.

Courtney, who attends Nichols College in Dudley, Mass., will present a vocal selection for her talent and her platform is seeking help for at-risk teens. This issue is important to Courtney as her father is an alcoholic and started drinking when he was 15 years old. She feels that issues of drug and alcohol abuse must be addressed at an early age, helping young people realize the life-altering consequences of these issues.

The Miss Maine Scholarship Program, the official state preliminary to Miss America, is a not-for-profit organization which maintains a tradition of empowering young women to achieve professional and personal goals.

Miss Maine receives thousands of dollars in college scholarships, as well as a paid trip to compete for Miss America. Each contestant, regardless of placement, earns valuable college assistance.

Tickets may be purchased by calling Ellie Eramo at 443-4370, emailing eaeramo@localnet.com, mailing your order to Ellie Eramo, 442 Bath Road, Brunswick, ME 04011, or at the door on the night of the pageant.
