Charity basketball
AUBURN — Lewiston Area Basketball Club will host a charity basketball game from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 18, to raise funds for the team’s trip to compete in the National Championship July 27-31 in Virginia. The game will be held at Auburn Recreation Dept., Pettengill Park, next to Ingersoll Arena.
Social Bridge
LEWISTON — Lewiston Auburn Social Bridge Club met Monday in the Multipurpose Center on Birch Street.
Finishing first in flight A were Lucille Bilodeau and Luke Merry; second were Larry Fortier and Paul Sherman, who also were first in flight B; third were Bob and Justine Angland.
Finishing second in flight B were Helen Little and Judy Abromson; third were Marlene and Conrad Violette.
The next game will be played at 9 a.m. Monday, June 20. All bridge players are invited. A partner is guaranteed. For information call Rosemarie Goodwin at 783-1734.
Acupuncture
LEWISTON — The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing at Central Maine Medical Center will hold a free acupuncture workshop for cancer patients, survivors and caregivers. “How Acupuncture May Help Cancer Patients and Caregivers” will take place from 2 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, at CMMC, 12 High St., in conference room H.
Acupuncturist Catherine Allen will present the research available to support the use of acupuncture for various symptoms and side effects of cancer and its treatment, including pain, nausea, vomiting, immune deficiency, anxiety, depression and stress. A needle demonstration will be part of the presentation.
Allen earned a masters degree in acupuncture and Oriental medicine from the New England School of Acupuncture in 2007..

Smithfield Plantation
LITCHFIELD — The Smithfield Plantation Board of Trustees meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, at Smithfield Plantation.
At 6:30 there will be a public walk at Smithfield Plantation to celebrate the summer solstice.
