LEWISTON — Gladys I. Hiscock, 90, a lifelong resident of Turner, died surrounded by her loving family, Wednesday, June 15, at Marshwood Health Care Center.

She was born June 19, 1920, in Turner, the daughter of Leroy and Ella (Durgin) Quimby. She would have celebrated her 91st this coming Sunday. Gladys attended school in Turner. On Dec. 8, 1936, in Turner, she married Asa ‘Carl” Hiscock and had their four children. She later met her longtime companion of 45 years, Augustine “Gus” Richard, he passed away March 25, 2003.

Gladys worked at Priscilla Turner Rug Guild in Turner; and Tambrands Inc. in Auburn. She was a member of the Turner Senior Citizens and the Federated Church Circle. Gladys enjoyed quilting, making jam, but especially loved the time spent with her family.

She is survived by her daughters, Juanita Henson of Stuart, Fla., and Rosita Hartley and companion, Clark Smith, of Peaks Island; her sons, Carlton “Dodo” Hiscock and his wife, Sandy, of Turner and Leroy Hiscock and his wife, Debbie, of Livermore Falls; 16 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her brothers, Robert and Donald Quimby; sisters, Virginia Strout and Theo Quimby; and her son-in-law, Edward Henson Sr.

Her family would like to thank the staff of Marshwood Nursing Home and Hospice House of Androscoggin for loving care and support to Gladys as well as her family.
