LEWISTON — Harry E. Darling, 64, of Autumn Lane, passed away suddenly Sunday, June 12, at his home following a long illness.

He was born in Lewiston, Sept. 20, 1946, the son of Donald and Antoinette (Bois) Darling Sr. He was a graduate of Edward Little High School in 1965, and later graduated from an electronics technical school in Boston.

He worked for many years at Xerox Corp. in Massachusetts, and later owned and operated Mac’s Variety in Auburn for many years.

Harry was an excellent dancer and was past president of the Country Side Dancers. He was also past president of the L & A Youth Hockey League.

He was a compassionate person who voluntarily helped military families of the Persian Gulf War.

He had a passion for NASCAR, especially his favorite driver, Tony Stewart. He also loved photography, woodworking and restoring antique cars.

He is survived by his mother, Antoinette Darling of Auburn; his sons, Michael Darling and wife, Jen, and their children, Christopher and Matthew, and Dennis Darling and wife, Sandra, and their children Stevie, Rene and Melanie, all of Ohio; Marguerite Darling of Portland; his sister, Virginia Lytch and husband, Larry, of California; his brothers, Ronald Darling and wife, Joann, of Tennessee, and Donald Darling Jr. and wife, Cynthia, of Hampden; his good friend, Pat Bergeron of Lisbon; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his father in 1996.
