My family and I are very saddened that we will no longer have “our” Maineiacs to heat up the cold winter nights. Several times during the season, for the past few years, we have made the drive from Rockport to Lewiston to see the future NHL stars as they honed their skills in front of the wonderful Lewiston fans.

The brand of hockey was nothing short of fantastic, and the excitement generated was electric. The city of Lewiston should be very proud of all who were involved with the team. They have been marvelous hosts. Everyone from the guys in the parking lot, to the staff, to the warm folks at the concessions have always been kind and helpful.

The loss of the Maineiacs is a loss for the entire state, not just the city of Lewiston. I am very sorry that some sort of financing could not have been worked out to keep the Maineiacs in Lewiston or, if not Lewiston, somewhere in the state.

The Maineiacs were the best bargain ever in Maine sports.
