AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) — The fatal stabbing of a man in his Augusta apartment remains unexplained nearly a week after it happened.

The Kennebec Journal in Augusta says the victim, 46-year-old David Cox, was an Army veteran with few ties to central Maine. Police have not identified a suspect or even a person of interest in their investigation into last Saturday’s stabbing.

Cox’s death was reported to police by his roommate, 40-year-old Michael Lee Thomas Young, who’s been interviewed by police. The Journal says Young was arrested earlier this week on outstanding warrants for failure to pay fines in unrelated cases.

Neighbors told the newspaper that Young and Cox fought frequently.
