It seems to me that the public is ignoring a source of almost free power. All the water that goes around the turbines at Gulf Island Dam is “lost” power.

When most of Maine is tucked in for the night and the lights are off, much of the Central Maine Power generating capacity is idle. When the public isn’t using electricity for hot meals and big screen TVs, CMP should be using the juice to convert water into hydrogen gas and oxygen.

Of course, it would have to be stored at some expense, but why not take advantage of “water over the dam”?

If, as I’m suggesting, the only real cost for hydrogen power is the storage cost, why not give it a try?

Everyone knows that the multi-national oil companies are just waiting for the next excuse to rip into people’s wallets even deeper.
