PALATKA, Fla. — Helen Elizabeth Horne, 56, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 16, in Palatka, Fla.

She was born on Nov. 2, 1954, in Lewiston, to parents Raymond William Whiting Sr. and Fernande Guimond Giguere.

Helen was a resident of Clay County for the past 25 years. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Helen loved to cook and surf the Internet. She worked as an inventory control manager at Winn Dixie for the past 18 years. Helen enjoyed watching NASCAR racing. Her favorite driver was Carl Edwards; she loved seeing him do his flip after winning a race. She loved to watch the Jaguars football games. Her family said the Jaguars have lost their biggest fan since she knew everything there was to know about the Jags. She was a huge lover of cats and was a true feline at heart.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 25 years, Warren Horne, son, Dana Cote, and stepdaughter, Lisa Nelson, all of Middleburg ,Fla.; brothers, Harold of Sabattus, Gary and Raymond Jr., of New Gloucester, Mark of East Livermore, and Michael Whiting of Sabattus; sisters, Gloria Capo of Green Cove Springs, Fla., Debra Belanger of Sabattus, Lena Paradis of East Poland, and Gail Combs of Auburn; and grandchildren, Jamie Nelson and Sophia Duran, of Middleburg ,Fla.

She was predeceased by her parents.
