WEST PARIS — Howard F. Conant, 80, passed away Saturday, June 18, at his home.

He was born in West Sumner on Dec. 1, 1930, the son of Leon E. and Florence Hadley Conant. He attended West Sumner elementary school and Norway high school, graduating with the Class of 1949. He worked at C.B. Cummings for 39 years as a machinist. In 1956, he married Althea Goding. He proudly served our country in the U. S. Army from 1950 to 1953, spending time in Korea.

He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Catherine Lajoie and her husband, Brian, of Lewiston; two sons, Brian Conant of South Paris and Keith Conant of Buckfield; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Marie Heino; four brothers, Leon Conant of Bryant Pond, Albert Conant of Oxford, Douglas Conant of Belgrade and Larry Conant of Sumner.

He was predeceased by his parents; and a brother, Charles.
