NORWAY — Norway Memorial Library announces “Let’s Talk About It: The American Sporting Experience,” beginning at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, with a discussion of “A River Runs Through It” by Norman MacLean and “The Loneliness of the Long-Distance Runner” by Alan Sillitoe.

The reading and discussion series is provided by the Maine Humanities Council in cooperation with Maine State Library. It is open to the public and free of charge.

Subsequent books include “Friday Night Lights” by H.G. Bissinger on Wednesday, July 13, “The Natural” by Bernard Malamud on Wednesday, Aug. 3, and “Winterdance” by Gary Paulsen on Wednesday, Aug. 24. All discussions begin at 7 p.m.

Facilitator of discussions is Dr. Ted Williams. Williams is a native of Portland. He is currently a lecturer at the University of Southern Maine and the University of New England where he teaches literature and cultural studies courses.
