NORWAY — Stephens Memorial Hospital will offer a Safe Sitter class from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, and from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Thursday, June 23, in the Harper Conference Center. The Family Birthplace nurse Shannon Nassa will teach the course.

The program is a medically accurate, hands-on instructional program designed for young adolescents that teaches boys and girls how to handle emergencies when caring for children.

Safe Sitters learn infant & child CPR, choking procedure, safety for the sitter, how to call for emergency help, babysitting business skills, basic child care skills and how to entertain children and keep them safe. The classes are geared for 11- to 13-year-olds.

The fee for the two day class is $50. A scholarship in the amount of $15 is available upon request. For information and registration, call 743-5933. Online registration may be done via the website at www.wmhcc.org.
