BRUNSWICK —  More than 250 musicians from 25 countries will arrive this weekend to study, teach and perform at the Bowdoin International Music Festival. Over the next six weeks, renowned performing artists and aspiring virtuosos will present more than 80 concerts from Portland to Woolwich.

This year’s festival, featuring  solo recitals, chamber concerts and full-scale orchestral performances, will celebrate the musical city of Vienna.

Wednesday Upbeat!: The Bowdoin International Music Festival concert season will begin with the Wednesday Upbeat! concert at 7:30 p.m. on June 29. New York Philharmonic principal oboist Liang Wang will be joined by colleague Philip Myers, the Philharmonic’s principal horn, in the opening work, Trio in D major, Op. 61 by Heinrich von Herzogenberg.

Violist Paul Neubauer of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center will then lead a string sextet in “Soul Garden,” by composer-in-residence Derek Bermel, creative adviser to the American Composers Orchestra at Carnegie Hall.

Long-time Bowdoin festival favorite Emma Tahmiziàn will close out the concert with works for solo piano by Brahms (selections for Walzer, Op. 39) and Schoenberg (Piano Suite, Op. 25).

Wednesday Upbeat! concerts areat 7:30 p.m. in Studzinski Recital Hall on the Bowdoin campus. Tickets are $30.

Artists of Tomorrow: On Thursday, June 30, the first Artists of Tomorrow student concert will feature the festival’s top students performing classical works. It will beat 7:30 p.m. in Studzinski Recital Hall. Suggested donation: $10.

Festival Fridays: The Bowdoin Festival’s premier Festival Fridays concert series will open on July 1 with works by Bach, Beethoven and Mozart. The program will begin with New York Philharmonic principal oboe Liang Wang paired with violinist Ray Chen in Bach’s Concerto for Oboe and Violin in C Minor, BWV 1060.

 The Grammy Award-winning Ying Quartet, in its ninth year in residence at the festival, will follow with Beethoven’s String Quartet No. 8 in E Minor, Op. 59, No. 2.

 In the finale, Paul Neubauer will perform Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante with Suyoen Kim. Lewis Kaplan conducts the orchestra.

Festival Fridays concerts are at 7:30 p.m. in Brunswick High School’s Crooker Theater. Tickets are $40.
