AUBURN — Elaine B. Littlefield, 80, of Auburn died Monday, June 20, after a period of declining health.

Mrs. Littlefield was born in Lewiston, the daughter of the late Louis V. and Marion E. (Keyes) Baraby and grew up in Auburn. She was a proud valedictorian of Edward Little High School followed by attending Bates College. She was a life-long member of the Unitarian Universalist Church in Auburn.

Mrs. Littlefield always kept up her college connections — especially the “Wilson 6”— as she referred to her floor mates at Bates’ Wilson House. During World War II, when Auburn was faced with a teacher shortage, Elaine was pleased to have taught in the local schools while still in high school. She was an avid reader, especially histories and mysteries, and her knitting, needlework and cooking were all admired and appreciated by her friends and family.

Elaine shared a lifelong enjoyment of flower and vegetable gardening, antiques and stamp collecting with her mother, who she spent many years caring for in her home. Her total and loving support of her children was an example to all and will be greatly missed.

Elaine served as executive vice president of the Maine Association of Realtors and served on the Maine Real Estate Commission. She worked at Twin City Printery and at two Lewiston law firms, first at Isaacson & Raymond and ending her career with Bonneau & Geismar.

She is survived by her son, Bruce V. Littlefield of Auburn; her daughters, Anne L. Littlefield of Scarborough and Jeanie A. Littlefield of Buckfield; and a dear family friend, Vickie L. Gammon of Buckfield.
