Apple Valley Babe Ruth
WINTHROP — Winthrop dropped a pair of games in Apple Valley Babe Ruth baseball action, 5-0 to Maranacook and 5-4 to Monmouth.
Zach Elwell pitched the shutout for Maranacook. Carson Dalheim belted a triple, and Adam Brooks and Tucker Whitman each singled for Maranacook. Drew Stratton, Zack Glazier and Ethan Squires each singled for Winthrop.
D.J. McHugh singled and picked up the pitching win for Monmouth. Brandon Goff and Cody Pelletier also had base hits. Dakota Carter singled twice for Winthrop (6-4). Ethan Squires added a double. Mario Meucci singled.
Maranacook improved to 8-0 with a 10-0, six-inning shutout of Turner One.
Richard Hall picked up the win on the hill. Cameron Brochu singled twice to lead the attack. Elwell and Whitmaan each cranked a double.
AK Softball
LEEDS — The Leeds Lightning 12-and-under softball team remained unbeaten with a 17-4 win over Buckfield. Winning pitcher Abby Robertson finished with 11 strikeouts. Lillie Black had four hits,including a triple for Leeds (4-0). Amber Kelley and Cassidy Bunker each reached base safely five times and scored three runs apiece.
Auburn Suburban
AUBURN — Team Enfeco continued its late-season winning ways in Auburn Suburban Little League minor baseball with a victory over Pat’s Pizza.
Will Cassidy pitched with authority and led the offense with a big bat for Pat’s. Other big jitters included Tyler Jalbert and Ryan Marston. Pat’s played without hitting star Anson Perry, out due to an ankle injury.
Michael Potvin and R.J. Nichols each pitched a solid inning to lead Enefco. Offensive standouts included Matthew Scholer and Cayden Billings with two hits apiece. Scholer also made his season pitching debut, throwing strikes and showing great command.
South Lewiston
LEWISTON — Gendron’s beat Poisson’s, 11-2, in South Lewiston major league action.
Gendron’s scored 11 unanswered runs over three innings after Poissons took a 1-0 lead. Leading the way with two hits each were Nick Powers, Austin Merritt and Caden Smith. Powers, Merritt and Matt Boulet all had doubles.
Sam Blaisdell lea the pitching for Gendron’s, allowing only two runs on two hits while striking out 11. Caelan Pelletier had both of the Poisson’s hits, a double and a towering home run over the fence in left center.
