PORTLAND — Ramon Kelly Farrin Jr., “Bapa,” 64, of Gray, died unexpectedly Sunday, June 19.
He was born to Ramon and Bette in Damariscotta, March 6, 1947. He graduated from SMVTI and USM. Kelly was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Kelly was a licensed Maine lobsterman.
He lobstered out of Yarmouth on his boat, the “Ashley Marie,” named after his granddaughter, who shared his birthday. Kelly was also a published author and ran a successful blog. He retired from the Portland Post Office. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard and was a lighthouse keeper on Cuckolds Light in Southport. He was quick witted and loved by many. He will be sorely missed.
Kelly is survived by his wife of 41 years, Jan Hawkes Farrin; his son, Skip, his wife, Janice and grandson, Chad; daughter, Lori, her husband, Scott and grandchildren, Ashley, Joseph and Joshua; his father of Ocala, Fla.; and sister, Linda and her husband, Ric, of Ellington, Conn.
He was predeceased by his mother, Bette in 2010.
