LEWISTON — Lewiston firefighters Mark Caron and Richard Cailler have each been promoted, according to Chief Paul M. LeClair.
Caron has been promoted to the rank of lieutenant. He started his career with the department in 1996, and his most recent assignment has been at the Lisbon Street station.
He is currently working toward completion of an associate degree in fire science at Southern Maine Community College. A certified instructor for Firefighter I & II, Caron’s new assignment is at Central Station.
Cailler has been promoted to the rank of captain. He joined the department in 1987 and served as a private until 2003, when he was promoted to the rank of lieutenant and assigned to the Main Street station. Cailler’s new assignment is at Central Station.
Cailler has studied numerous areas of the fire services field through Central Maine Community College, Southern Maine Community College and the National Fire Academy. He currently serves as president of the firefighters’ union, Local 785, a position he has held since 1998.
Cailler is also a field representative for the International Association of Firefighters Wellness Fitness Initiative, aiding fire departments across the United States and Canada in implementing health and wellness programs.
In addition, Cailler serves on the Advisory Committee for the Maine Public Employees Retirement System and is a trustee for the Professional Firefighters of Maine.
He also enjoys coaching and has been actively involved with area youth hockey programs for many years. He and his wife, Lisa, have two children, Ethan and Taylor.
