LIVERMORE FALLS — Regional School Unit 73 directors will consider Thursday a proposal by Bailey Bros., Inc. to do bus fleet, vehicle and equipment maintenance beginning July 1.

It is one of numerous items on the agenda for the meeting at 6 p.m. June 23 at the Central Office at the Cedar Learning Center in Livermore Falls.

The Bailey dealership of Livermore Falls currently does bus work for Regional School Unit 36, which will join with Jay on July 1, to become RSU 73.

Superintendent Robert Wall passed out a draft proposal for an agreement at a meeting on June 15. He said the district needed to reach an agreement for service to the bus fleet to begin on July 1, the start of the school fiscal year. The school budget approved June 14 included money to contract for the service.

The agreement calls for a service technician to be available to the district from 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. during the normal school year as needed for repairs, maintenance, breakdowns and more. Additional technicians would be supplied throughout the day as needed.

The fleet would receive a discount off the company’s normal, heavy truck labor rate due to the size of the fleet. The hourly rate would be $56, according to the proposal.

All parts and fluids would be billed directly to RSU 73.

Some items that would not be handled by Bailey’s are factory warrant work, major bodywork, towing and some diagnostic work on emissions and drivability on new buses.

RSU 73 employees would be responsible to change bulbs, check fluids, replace wiper blades and repair seat covers.

In other business, directors will consider personnel appointments in executive session. The board went into executive session on June 14 for more than two hours to consider appointments before returning to open session.

Directors then voted to send a proposed personnel policy for 2011-12 in regards to support staff not covered by a collective bargaining agreement to the Policy Committee.

They also tabled action on the appointment to the positions listed in the policy. They will take up the policy again Thursday.
