PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. — Barbara E. Hussey, 88, of Tequesta, Fla., formerly of Marblehead, Mass., passed away on June 15, at the Hospice of Palm Beach County.

She was born in Swampscott, Mass., Jan. 18, 1923, daughter of the late Irving R. Libby and Edwina T. (Hodges) Libby, she was wife of the late Pearson Hussey of Marblehead, Mass., and Harwich Mass., a math teacher at Marblehead High School for 27 years, with whom she had shared 60 years of marriage at the time of his death in 2004. They were blessed with a wonderful 30-year retirement at Cape Cod, also wintering in Florida, since 1993.

Prior to her retirement, Barbara was director of the nursery school at St. Stephens United Methodist Church in Marblehead. She thoroughly enjoyed nurturing preschool children.

She leaves two sons, Richard (Linda) Hussey of Tequesta, Fla., and Stephen (Lina) Hussey of Wales; five grandchildren, Jon (Angela) Hussey of Lewiston, Carolyn (Jeremy) McElfresh of Lewiston, Alison (Mark) Theberge of Kingston, N.H., Alicia (Thomas) Ritter of Salem, N.H., and Jay (Stacy) Blais of Greene; 12 great-grandchildren; she also leaves her sister, Martha L. Booth of Salem, Mass.; and three nephews.
