Fifteen high school seniors from across Maine have been awarded a Cumberland Farms Believe and Achieve Scholarship this year.

Each winner will receive $1,000 toward college expenses from the convenience store retailer. This is the fifth consecutive year that Cumberland Farms awarded the scholarships to promising students across its service area. As part of the company’s Corporate Giving Initiative, the Believe and Achieve Scholarship is open to students entering college and who live within 30 miles of any Cumberland Farms outlet. While the initiative takes academic performance into account, the award also considers the student’s financial need.

The 2011 award winners include Lewiston residents Abigail Blaisdell, who will attend Bentley University; Tyler Hartman, who will attend University of New Hampshire; Brittany Martin, who will attend Northeastern University, and Joseph Sullivan, who will attend University of Maine; Mount Vernon resident Alexis Scott, who will attend University of Maine; and Mickella Laney of Anson will attend Southern New Hampshire University.

Cumberland Farms will again begin accepting Believe and Achieve Scholarship applications for the graduation class of 2012 in October. Visit www.cumberlandfarms.com or any store location for further information.
