AUGUSTA — Gov. Paul LePage has vetoed two more bills, one dealing with a wood smoke study and the other calling for department reporting.
One of the bills vetoed Thursday calls for a study by state health officials into the effects of wood smoke. LePage questions spending state money for the report and the impact it will have in a state with a long history of using renewable resources for heat.
The other bill calls for monthly reports by the departments of education and finance to several legislative committees on department activities, personnel transfers, contracted work and other matters. LePage questions the cost of the reports and says they cross the line from legislating to managing.
The Legislature will take up the vetoes next week.
