In a first-round, major division baseball playoff game, Poisson’s of New Auburn Little League defeated South Lewiston’s Dube Gravel, 13-3.

Zach Boyd pitched four strong innings, allowing three runs off of six hits and two walks while striking out nine. B.J. Demers pitched a solid fifth inning to close out the game.

Boyd was a big part of Poisson’s offense with three singles, a double, three RBIs and three runs scored. Caelan Pelletier had a three run triple. Demers added three RBIs, and Andre Coachman had two doubles.

Andrew Harriman had a two-run, inside-the-park home run for Dube Gravel. Matt Forgues and Nate Osgood combined for eight strikeouts on the mound.

Auburn Suburban

AUBURN — Hammond Lumber rallied in the bottom of the sixth inning to overcome an early 8-1 deficit and edge American Concrete in recent Auburn Suburban Little League minor baseball action.

American jumped out to an early lead with big hits from Jake Arel and Nick Martinez. They continued to pound the ball in third with hits from Nick Tirrell and Cameron Sturgis.

The Lumbermen chipped away at the lead in the third and fourth with hits from Micheal Braga, Parker Kramerz, Nathan Jones and Tim Emano. Concrete continued to battle to the end despite several injuries during the game.

Jacob Schofield drove in Seth Webster with the winning run for Hammond.

AK Softball

LEEDS — The Leeds Lightning 12-and-under softball team improved to 5-0 on the season with a 14-7 win over the Turner Cyclones.

Winning pitcher Abby Robertson had nine strikeouts on the night. Robertson also reached base safely five times for Leeds, including a triple. She scored three runs.

Also for Leeds, Alana Hartford had two hits and scored a run. Turner’s Nikki Daigle reached base safely three times and scored a run. Cyclones pitcher Angela Daigle had eight strikeouts.

Apple Valley Babe Ruth

Maranacook remained undefeated in Apple Valley Babe Ruth baseball with a 7-3 verdict over Monmouth.

Tucker Whitman and Zach Elwell each belted a triple for Maranacook (12-0). Vinnie Birtwell, Adam Brooks, Matt Delmar and Richard Hall all hit singles. Elwell was the winning hurler, outdueling Kyle Fletcher.

Spencer Wing, Brandon Goff and Alex Curtis had singles for Monmouth (7-2).

Dalheim (single, double), Nick Lacasse and Matt Delmer were repeat hitters for Maranacook in a 5-4 win over Winthrop.

Carson Dalheim picked up the pitching victory over Jared Hanson. Drew Stratton singled twice for Winthrop. Ben Allen and Mario Meucci each smacked a double.

Zach Glazier had two singles and a double to lead Winthrop over Sabattus, 7-3, in another Apple Valley battle.

Matt Sekarak slapped three singles. Stratton singled and doubled for Winthrop (7-4). Hanson was the winning pitcher.

Brady Dion delivered a double and a single for Sabattus.
