WATERVILLE — Linda Shostak of Minot was awarded the Girl Scout Appreciation Pin at the Girl Scouts of Maine annual meeting on April 30 at the Elks Lodge.

The Girl Scout Appreciation Pin is awarded to volunteers who demonstrate a positive attitude reflecting the Girl Scout principles and beliefs, and who go above and beyond expectations of their position.

Shostak was honored for her work on behalf of the River Valley Service Unit in Auburn. During her 13 years as a Girl Scout volunteer, she has served as a troop recruiter and coordinator of Juliette (independent) Girl Scouts. She has chaired numerous Girl Scout events and last year, under her guidance, the River Valley Service Unit held its first camporee.

Girl Scouts of Maine provides training and support to almost 16,000 girl and adult members statewide. For more information, visit www.girlscoutsofmaine.org.
