LEWISTON — James Richard Perry, 74, of Route 108, Rumford, died Thursday, June 23, at Central Maine Medical Center, following a brief illness with lung cancer.
He was born in Rumford, Jan. 26, 1937, a son of Joseph E. and Lucy (Arsenault) Perry. James was educated in Rumford schools and was a graduate of Stephens High School.
He served in the U.S. Army for two years. James was employed for nearly 40 years with the Boise Cascade Paper Mill. He was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior.
James was a member of the Sons of Italy, the VFW, the 40/8 club, the American Legion, the Elks, the Snowshoe Club and the Eagles.
He enjoyed playing cribbage, fishing, hunting, golfing, playing pool, listening to classic country music, watching the old classic westerns, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving are a son, Robert J. Perry and wife, Tammy-Lyn, of Peru; a daughter, Lynn M. Petrie and husband, Jay, of Rumford Center; two sisters, Elizabeth Dumoulin and husband, Fern, of Rumford and Emily Louise Schrath and husband, Eric, of Plymouth, Mass.; and four grandchildren, Erin Perry, Avery Perry, Julianne Petrie and Amanda Jo Petrie.
He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Mary (DeFilipp) Perry; two brothers, Paul and Raymond Perry; and a sister, Irma Sirois.
