Her numbers as a freshman turned heads.

Those from a year ago were jaw-dropping.

Now it’s just getting downright silly.

Ayla Allen, a three-sport all-star from Mountain Valley, has been the focal point of each of the teams on which she plays since she was a freshman. As a lacrosse player, she’s following in some big footsteps once trodden by her own siblings.

And she’s making those footprints even bigger.

After posting 45 goals as a freshman, she registered an astounding 78 goals as a sophomore, leaving her a paltry 77 short of 200 for her career.

Before she played a single game as a junior.

Allen finished 2011 with 84 goals this season, and stands at 207 over three seasons.

After her freshman campaign, teams knew to key on her. And it didn’t matter.

After her sophomore season, word had spread that the talented lefty was the go-to player on the Falcons’ roster.

More and greater defensive futility followed.

A lefty, Allen has blown scoring records at her school out of the water, with a full season yet to play.

For her prowess on the field, for her knack for finding the net and for continuing her family’s tradition of excellence, Allen is the 2011 Sun Journal All-Region girls’ lacrosse player of the year.
