BATH — Mekae Hyde clubbed a pair of two-run home runs and drove in five as Gayton crushed Smith-Tobey, 12-2, in a Sunday Zone 3 American Legion game called after five innings due to the 10-run mercy rule.

Hyde finished with three hits and two of three Gayton home runs. Scott Ouellette hit the other. Trey Ouellette and Joe Sullivan each added a double and Corbin Hyde chipped in with three hits.

On the mound, Corbin Hyde settled down after yielding his only hit and runs of the game on one pitch, a two-run home run by Zach Groat in the first inning. He held Smith-Tobey (1-3) hitless the rest of the way, striking out eight in five innings of work for Gayton (3-0).
