100 years ago, 1911
At a meeting of the Auburn Board of Public Works Commission last evening which lasted until nearly midnight much important business was transacted. Mr. Morris, a representative of the Bermudez Asphalt Road Co., was present and explained the methods of his company in laying asphalt paving, the value of these roads and the cities where such roads had been laid. The board finally voted to lay a stretch of asphalt on Goff Street and block paving on Turner Street.
50 years ago, 1961
Children are believed responsible for about $500 damage caused last weekend when a Manning Avenue house being constructed by Woodrow Dubay of Auburn was ransacked. Lewiston police said white paint was poured on the cellar floor, insulation was ripped from walls, glass was painted, water was poured on cement bags and some walls were painted with tar.
25 years ago, 1986
Lewiston sent Jay-Liv O. B. Cannon to an eighth straight Pine Tree baseball league defeat in Thursday’s rivalry at Livermore Falls. The score was 11-3, the visitors raising their record to 4-7.
Righthander Scott Milo was the pitching winner as he and Dan Howaniec combined for a five-hitter. Lewiston made 13, including homers by Carl Ouellette and Scott Seguin. Lewiston took the lead with three in the first and never looked back.
