EUGENE, Ore. — Bates College graduate Keelin Godsey reached a new peak in his post-collegiate career on Saturday, taking third place in the women’s hammer throw at the USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Hayward Field.

Godsey launched a top effort of 68.90 meters, or 226 feet, on his first attempt in Saturday’s finals, exceeding his previous personal record by a meter. He missed qualifying for the IAAF World Championships by 10 centimeters, and has until August 8 to reach the world standard.

Godsey graduated from Bates in 2006 as a 16-time All-American and two-time NCAA hammer champion, and he remains the all-time record-holder in the hammer in Division III. He is currently a volunteer assistant coach at Williams College.
