WATERFORD — The Oxford County Soil & Water Conservation District has teamed up with the Waterford World’s Fair to bring a day of fun and education to area Recreation Department, home school and camp youths from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, July 15.

Children will get an opportunity to go through an array of hands-on events including animal husbandry, aquatics, beekeeping, butter making, forestry, petting zoo, rocks & minerals and many more. This is a wonderful opportunity for children between the ages 5 and 12 to explore something new and learn about the world around them.

The schedule will be set up in blocks of time allowing each youth group to spend approximately 15 minutes at each learning station. The children will receive a program and map at the beginning of the day which includes questions that must be answered and checked off at each station. At the end of the day they may present their completed program to receive prizes from area sponsors and businesses. Children may bring a bag lunch or the fair will provide a healthy lunch suitable for children at a special price.

There is no cost beyond transporting the children to and from the fairgrounds. All groups must be accompanied by an adult.

Call the office by July 1 if your child or organization would like to participate. For more information contact Jean Federico at the Oxford County Soil & Water Conservation District, 17 Olson Road, Suite 3, South Paris ME 04281, phone 743-5789, ext. 111, or email at [email protected].
