LEWISTON — The Lewiston CareerCenter, 5 Mollison Way, Lewiston, continues its monthly programming, including workshops for job seekers and those who are considering training to upgrade their skills to increase their employability. Workshops are held at the CareerCenter, Central Maine Community College or the Auburn Public Library, as noted.

The CareerCenter is open Mondays and Fridays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Information Center hours are Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Friday, 8 a.m. to noon. Staff are available to assist job seekers during those times. Unless otherwise indicated, call 753-9005.

 Workshops available during July include:

Career Decision Making: a two-part workshop. On Monday, you will discuss tools you can use to help make career decisions. On the second day, you will use the information you gained to make your career plans. Registration is required. Offered July 12 and July 15 or July 26 and July 29, 9 to 11 a.m.

Non-Traditional Occupations for Women. Meet with an NTO specialist to explore NTOs for women: types of jobs, pay rates, employers with NTO opportunities, transferable skills, self-assessments, training, etc. Registration is required. Gateway to Employment gives an overview of basic information on resumes, interviews and job search skills, as well as CareerCenter and community services that are available to you during your job search. Registration is required. Offered every Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m.

Job Search Tips for People with a Criminal History. For those having trouble finding work and looking for tips on how to respond to those hard-to-answer questions. This workshop will help you become a successful job seeker. Registration is required. Offered July 15, 9 to 10 a.m.

Job Search Skills, facilitated by a CareerCenter staff person, is offered at the Auburn Public Library and Central Maine Community College. This workshop will help you conduct an effective job search. You will learn how employers advertise and hire, and methods you can use in your job search that will lead to success. Resume Basics and Interview Skills explores the basics of resumes and applications. You will learn how to make your resume and interview stand out in a positive way. Learn to market yourself in a way that directly matches employer needs. “Tough” interview questions will be discussed so that you can answer them with confidence. The Unemployed Professionals Group will not meet in July. There will be a new schedule and format coming in August.

The CareerCenter Training Orientation is an overview of training programs at the CareerCenter, eligibility requirements and information on accessing services. Ask CareerCenter staff for the schedule of meetings and to register (required).

Essentials of College Planning for Adults teaches the basic steps for successful college enrollment. Learn about college and trade schools, entrance requirements, readiness and transitional issues of adult students, admissions procedures and financial aid. Review a typical admissions application, request admissions materials and financial aid information from prospective colleges. You will complete the financial aid form, so bring last year’s income tax forms. Register by calling 800-281-3703.

An Adult Education Representative is available to help you explore options to improve your job skills and which adult education programs or classes will best meet your needs based on your interests and career goals. Available July 6, 13, 20 or 27, from 10:15 to 11 a.m.

The CareerCenter offers orientations for people with disabilities who are considering vocational rehabilitation services. Orientations are held the third Friday of every month.
