PARIS — Representatives of Healthy Oxford Hills will be on hand at the Fox School Farmers Market in South Paris on July 2 and July 9 to launch their new voucher program. This program, made possible through a grant from the Maine Health Assess Foundation, is in conjunction with the Cooperative Extension and Western Maine Pediatrics.

The goal of the program is to get families to the market to purchase fresh local produce, meats and eggs, and to provide them with knowledge on how to use the products purchased. Families will receive four $2.50 vouchers during well-child check-ups at Western Maine Pediatrics. They will receive another $10 worth of vouchers when attending cooking classes at the Cooperative Extension.

The program is an opportunity for local low-income families to learn more about local foods and cooking healthier meals for themselves and their children.

The Fox School Farmers’ Market is held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each Saturday morning through early October at the old Mildred Fox School. For more information, contact Patricia Verrill, market manager, at 674-5903.
