MONMOUTH — Family and friends gathered at the home of Mildred Robinson on Saturday, June 18, to celebrate her 100th birthday. Mildred was born on June 18, 1911. She is the oldest of 10 children born in Turner to George and Lena Bamford.

In 1913 she moved with her family to Livermore where she resided until 1925 when they moved to Fayette. In 1926 she moved to Monmouth to attend Monmouth Academy, graduating in 1930. Mildred married Charles Henry Robinson on June 30, 1931, and they made their home in Monmouth. They had two daughters, Charlene and Barbara. For many years Mildred packed apples at Chick’s Orchards. In 1957 Mildred became the manager of the hot lunch program for the Monmouth schools. After 25 years she retired on her 71st birthday in 1982.

Mildred was very involved in many community activities including 4H, Farm Bureau and Grange as well as her children’s, grandchildren’s, great-grandchildren’s and great-great grandchildren’s activities. Mildred still knits hats and mittens for the Cottrell-Taylor Christmas Baskets.
