CARTHAGE — New England Celtic Arts will present the internationally acclaimed Kane Sisters, traditional fiddlers from Galway, Ireland, at three venues in early July.

Liz and Yvonne Kane first came to national and international prominence during the three-year period when they toured worldwide with accordion player Sharon Shannon as members of her band, The Woodchoppers. The sisters are featured artists on Shannon’s “The Diamond Mountain Sessions” album.

The siblings toured Ireland and the United States following the release of their first album, “The Well Tempered Bow,” and followed up a second album, “Under the Diamond” in 2004. Their latest album, “Side by Side,” was launched in July 2010 at the Catskills Irish Festival in East Durham, N.Y., followed by a two-week tour with concertina player Edel Fox.

The sisters teach music during the school year in Ireland and tour in the United States during the summer. Between them, they have close to 200 students.

Performances will be on Monday, July 4, at the Fisherman’s Wharf Inn in Boothbay Harbor; Wednesday, July 6, at Skye Theatre Performing Arts Center in Carthage; and Thursday, July 7, at Unity College Center for the Performing Arts in Unity. Dinner and concert are at 5:30 and 7 p.m. at the Fisherman’s Wharf Inn; concert is at 7 p.m. at Skye and 7:30 p.m. in Unity.

There will be a jam session 45 minutes prior to curtain at Skye and Unity. Skye Theatre will hold its seventh annual Strawberry Shortcake Night, featuring reflector baked biscuits, fresh strawberries and whipped cream.

Fisherman’s Wharf Inn is at 22 Commercial St., Boothbay Harbor. Skye Theater is at 2 Highland Drive off Winter Hill Road; UCCPA is at 42 Depot St., Unity.
