LEWISTON — A Mass of Christian Burial honoring the life of Katherine I. LaMontagne was celebrated by Monsignor Marc Caron Wednesday in the upper church of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul of the Prince of Peace Parish following prayers at the Pinette & Lynch Funeral Home. At the entrance of church, Katherine’s casket was draped with a white burial pall by her family members, Frederick Hall Jr., William, Christopher and Stephen Norbert, as well as John Sprague and Richard Wesley which symbolized Katherine’s Baptism into a new life with God. Scripture readings were proclaimed by Katherine’s grandnephews, Christopher and Stephen Norbert. The responsorial psalm was recited by Paula Norbert. The prayer of the faithful was recited by grandnieces, Mary and Abigail Norbert. The offertory gifts were brought to the altar by Katherine’s great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews. Words of remembrance of Katherine’s life were shared by grandnephews, William and Stephen Norbert as well as grandniece Margaret Norbert. Following a procession to Mt. Hope Cemetery, Monsignor Caron recited graveside committal prayers. The pallbearers were Frederick Hall Jr., William, Christopher and Stephen Norbert as well as John Sprague and Richard Wesley. At the conclusion of committal prayers, all were then invited to a reception of fellowship at the home of Katherine’s grandniece Judith Patterson in Lewiston.
