AUBURN — An Auburn man was issued a summons to appear in court on a charge of failure to control a dangerous fire after attempting to burn down a structure on his property Sunday afternoon, according to the Auburn Police Department.
The man, whose name was not available Sunday evening, allegedly started a fire in an outbuilding located on property he recently purchased on Stevens Mill Road, just off Hotel Road in Auburn. Battalion Chief Richard McFadden of the Auburn Fire Department said that the blaze was discovered about 4:56 p.m. at 457 Stevens Mill Road.
McFadden said that the man was trying to burn down the unwanted structure, which is illegal. Additionally, the blaze was close to power lines near the property.
