LEWISTON — The Colin Grant Band, whose music lingers between the rich, soulful roots of traditional Cape Breton and the grooves of rock and funk, will perform at the Franco-American Heritage Center on Tuesday, July 12.

The band will also play on Wednesday, July 13, at Skye Theatre Performing Arts Center in South Carthage, on Thursday, July 14, at Unity College Center for the Performing Arts in Unity and on Friday, July 15, at Fisherman’s Wharf Inn in Boothbay Harbor. Curtain is at 7 p.m. at Franco center and Skye, and 7:30 p.m. in Unity. There will be two shows, at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m., at Fisherman’s Wharf Inn.

Grant’s fiddle playing — hard-driving yet clean, lively and passionate– has taken him to the forefront of the East Coast traditional music scene. Although most at home with traditional Cape Breton fiddle music, his versatility as both a lead and side musician has given him experiences in a variety of traditional styles, as well as folk, rock and country.

Grant’s self-titled debut album received an ECMA nomination for Roots/Traditional Solo Album of the Year. He cranked out his second full-length album, “Fun for the Whole Family” in 2010.

Fellow band members are Jason Roach on piano; Darren MacMullen on bouzouki, mandolin, guitar and banjo; and Merlin Clarke and Donnie Calabrese on bass and drums.

The Franco center is at 46 Cedar St.; Skye is at 2 Highland Drive off Winter Hill Road and U.S. Route 2 in Carthage; UCCPA is at 42 Depot St., Unity; Fisherman’s Wharf Inn is at 22 Commercial St., Boothbay Harbor.

Tickets are $15 at the door, except at Fisherman’s Wharf ($25 for dinner/concert). For reservations, call the Franco center at 783-1585, Skye at 562-4445, UCCPA at 948-7469 or Fisherman’s Wharf at 800-628-6872.
