NORWAY — Barbara Traficonte, Suzanne Hardy, Veronica Cross, Gail Rein and Irina Kahn are heading up the big Western Maine Art Group fine art auction Friday, July 15, from 5 to 8 p.m. with art and food. Artwork pieces are on view at the Norway Operations Center, 340 Main St., and at the Matolcsy Arts Center, 480 Main St. Bids will be accepted until the auction ends on July 15. Phone bids and left bids will be accepted as well as physical bids.

Artwork sales will benefit the renovation project. Some of the featured items will be art from the group’s current members and donations from artists from years gone by that have become priceless. The list of items is as follows:

Lee Bean’s large original artworks, oil paintings “Norman’s Farm,” “Abandoned,” 1964 Orell Linnell’s “Liberty Bell,” large oil, and more.

Also, V. Aker’s paintings and photographs, “Autumn Road” and more; Doris Shoonmaker large watercolor of sheep; L. Geiser’s large winter watercolor; Miss Libby’s photographs; R.W. Ellenberger, large original watercolor, and Diana Hertz’s large watercolors, “Daffodils” and “Ripening Tomatoes.”

Also, Barbara Traficonte’s several large pastel paintings, “Landscape” and still life, “Tulips;” Ann S. Beyer’s 1984 watercolor; Cleo Stilphen’s watercolor; Susan Knock’s “Apples” and Pam Morra’s oil, “Pink flowers.”

Also, Irina Kahn’s oil painting, “Sunflowers;” Suzanne Hardy’s pastel image of Norway Lake; Jeffrey Hosta’s large photographs; Julieanne Reed’s oil pastels; Waldo Preble’s watercolor and Susan Sweetzer’s oil painting, “Pansies.”

Next year will be the Western Maine Art Group’s 50th anniversary; they are looking to raise enough funds to guarantee grant money for a restoration project needed to continue their work.

The Gallery will be open Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m., Wednesday from 9 a.m. to noon, Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m., Friday from 1 to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m.
