LEWISTON — Grammy Award-winning pianist and composer Paul Sullivan will perform at the Franco-American Heritage Center on Saturday,July 23. Appearing with him will be singer Theresa Thomason.
Besides Sullivan’s signature solo piano work, the concert will feature many styles of popular music, from Gershwin to Stevie Wonder, along with new songs Sullivan has written for Thomason, whom he describes as “one his favorite singers.”
Sullivan has performed as a soloist, with his trio and as a member of the Paul Winter Consor. He has played concert tours in most of the United States and Europe, as well as in Croatia, Israel, Costa Rica and Japan. He has performed in Leonard Bernstein’s living room and on the stages of many of the world’s finest concert halls.
Sullivan has also performed with some legendary orchestras, such as the Philadelphia Orchestra under Eugene Ormandy, the Boston Pops under both Arthur Fiedler and Keith Lockhardt, and several regional orchestras around the United States.
He received a Grammy Award for his work on the Paul Winter Consort CD, “Silver Solstice.”
Thomason is well-known in the gospel world for her vocals and showmanship. She has recorded two albums and toured throughout Europe. She began working with Sullivan nearly 20 years ago. They have performed together as part of the solstice concerts at New York’s Cathedral of St. John the Divine.
